The nursing shortage continues to make news and the nursing community is still in great need of more students. The need for nurses will grow rapidly over the next 10-20 years and for those who decide to enter the field the rewards will be great. Right now nursing is easily one of the hottest careers on the market. Nursing Students Come From All Walks Of Life

If you read some of the literature from thirty years ago, you will find the references to nursing students being female in almost every instance. A male nurse was a complete anomaly and was very likely to be the butt of many jokes. In some schools men were not even allowed to enroll as nursing students in the first place. Nursing school programs across the country are becoming increasingly competitive as more and more applicants look to careers as a nurse. Programs such as BSN programs have become harder to get into as more and more people apply.
