Online learning has become a hot topic in the world of post secondary education options. While criticized by many, online education offers many opportunities as a solution to growing problems in the world of education. No other spectrum of education notes the potential for online learning quite as well as nursing programs.

Due to several economic and demographic factors, the demand for licensed practical nurses in the United States has been increasing for several years. Within the near future, demand for nurses is estimated to skyrocket; demographic polls have suggested that between the years of 2006 to 2016 this demand will increase over 23%.
As of May 2006, the average hourly wage of a nurse within the United States was $28.70, while the average annual income was $59,710.
